Scanly: a document scanner that finishes the job

Context. Scanly is my own iOS app: it turns the phone into a document scanner. Free on the App Store since July 2026, in 12 languages, with a weekly and a yearly plan.

Problem. A photo of a contract is not a document. It is crooked, lit from one side and saved as a picture, so the next step is always another app: to crop it, to read the text, to sign it, to merge it into one file.

Goal. One app that takes a page from the camera to a finished PDF someone else can open ✦

Scan anything. Edge detection and perspective correction turn a photo of a receipt, a contract, a note or an ID into a crisp page, and several pages into one document.

The tools that usually live elsewhere. Text through OCR, a signature drawn with a finger, and converting, merging, splitting and compressing PDFs, all in the same place as the scan.

Ask the document. An AI summary of what a document says, and answers to questions about it, so a long file does not have to be read end to end.

Shipped solo. Designed in Figma, built in SwiftUI with Claude Code, submitted to the App Store and instrumented with PostHog, all by me. The App Store page, its screenshots and their localisations into 12 languages are part of the same design work.
